Cake Extra's!
Ok, by now you know I love all things cake, so one night, I went a bit nutty and collected as much cake information as I could!  Below you'll find quotes about cake, cake translated into a ton of languages, cake added into famous Latin saying and yes, even a survey you can fill out on your cake preferences (didn't I tell you that market research would come in handy!).  I hope you get a chuckle out of all of this, and I'm constantly adding new ideas (thank you to my Dad for all the contributions...you rock!), so if you have anything, please let me know at  jennifer@jenny-cakes.com.

Famous Cake Quotes

Just in case you haven’t had enough of cake in this site (and I never have enough cake, so the point is moot for me), I've compiled some famous quotes, movie lines and language translations regarding cake!  I’m waiting for Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughan, Jack Black, John Cusack or some of my other favorites to make a movie about cake, but I'll have to wait for the screenwriters to be inspired….maybe they’ll come to this site and get working!  I promise, I'll make them cake to keep the creative juices flowing!  Anyway…..

“If the people have no bread, let them eat cake.”  Attributed to Marie Antoinette

“My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of M&M's and a chocolate cake. I feel better already.”   -Dave Berry

“You must love the crust of the earth on which you dwell more than the sweet crust of any bread or cake. You must be able to extract nutriment out of a sand-heap. You must have so good an appetite as this, else you will live in vain.”  -Henry David Thoreau

From  the movie The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of Desert:
Anthony to Bernadette:  Bernice has left her cake out in rain!

From the movie Office Space:
Nina: Now Milton, don't be greedy, let's pass it along and make sure everyone gets a piece.
Milton Waddams: Yeah, but last time I didn't receive a piece. And I was told...
Nina: Just pass.
[while the cake passes Milton mutters - eventually everybody but Milton gets a piece]
Milton ams: [muttering] I could set the building on fire.

From Sex & the City series

And don’t forget those well-known sayings in Cake Latin…..

Ok, here are Cake Quotes in Latin per Jenny…..I know, I know, now I’m just going off the deep end!  :)  I understood from several websites that Dulcia could be translated as either ‘cake’ or ‘sweet’ in Latin.  However, there are multiple other ideas, so if anyone knows for sure, please let me know and I’ll update this site!  I’m also trying to figure out how to properly conjugate Vini, Vidi, Vici (I came, I saw, I conquered!) to I came, I saw, I ate Cake, and Dum Vivimus, Vivamus (While we Live, Let us Live!) to While we Live, Let us eat Cake!. Any Latin scholars who could chime in?  Here is what I have so far though, assuming Dulcia can be used as Cake...

Veritas Dulcia = Truth is cake
Dulcia Curat = The cake cures
Dulcia vos liberabit = The cake will set you free
Viva Dulcia = Long live the cake
     Dulcia Rex= Cake is King
     Semper Dulcia= Always cake
     Dulcia infintum= Cake Forever

If there need to be corrections and you know Latin, please let me know and I’ll change this site & thank you profusely! I love Latin sayings, but certainly do not know my E Pluribus from my Unum!

And if you see something above that you like, go see if I made it into a T-Shirts or Apron in the Shop For It section (yes, I get a little carried away when it comes to cake!).

The Great Cake Poll of 2009!

Now, as much as I love cake for the fun of it, we cannot ignore the fact that there are serious questions we must address when talking of cake.  Like the forever debated question of correct Frosting to Cake Ratios-who is right, who is wrong, is there a clear winner?  Like the debate over the benefits of yellow cake with chocolate frosting vs. chocolate cake with vanilla frosting?  Those in the chocolate frosting camp are steadfast in their beliefs, but I believe discussion is the only way we can understand our differences.  So, here we go….. just answer the questions below and we’ll start tackling the hard-hitting cake issues!  Get your friends, family, kids and neighbors to answer as well, as the more people we have, the more statistically relevant our findings will be!  Once we have a base of answers, I'll start charting & graphing (see, that Market Research background is handy after all!) and hopefully we’ll get a national pole of opinion.  Watch out CNN….we’re tackling the cake issues that have gone unaddressed for far too long!

This poll will only take 3 minutes & I would LOVE your responses...and your friends, family & children’s as well. Make it a family affair and let me have all your answers! Then come back and see how the charts come out!  Thank you!  And yes, I'm working on getting this into a web-survey form, so if your dying to answers, copy this into Word & send me your answers...I'll get compiling!  Thanks! :)
